COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) was tied for fourth place and the Gannon women's golf team was in fourth in the team race on Monday after the opening round of the ODU Champions of Women's Golf Fall Classic.
Petersen, a senior, shot a 3-over-par 73 on the par-70 Champions Golf Course, while the Golden Knights finished the day with a 33-over 313 total to move into fourth place among 15 teams. Tiffin leads the tourney at 22-over 302 while Tiffin's Lisa Marie Schumacher paces the individual standings after shooting an even-par 70. Host Ohio Dominican was second at 303.
Another Gannon senior, Andrew Martinez, shot 9-over 79 to move into 25th place among 100 golfers. Sophomore
Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) was right behind after shooting 80 to move into 32nd place, and junior
Emily Donahue (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) was in 34th place after carding an 81.
Freshman
Alexandria LeCureux (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) shot 83, and
Samantha Turk (Euclid, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph), playing as an individual, added an 84.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday with 18 holes.
