ERIE, Pa. – Gannon seeks to extend its two-game winning streak hosting Adelphi on Tuesday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m. A week ago both teams were "receiving votes" in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-1-0 with a 5-2 win over Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday. Gannon opened the season ranked seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25. The Golden Knights posted a 5-0 win over Lake Erie in their season opener, but a 1-0 loss to Saginaw Valley State dropped Gannon out of the national rankings. They followed with a 4-0 win at Ashland.

Adelphi and Gannon will meet for the first time on the pitch. The Panthers come in at 1-2-1 after being picked to finish second in the Northeast-10 in the coach's preseason poll.

Head coach Billy Colton's Golden Knights are coming off an unbeaten regular season in 2023 along with a postseason run to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. The Golden Knights finished at 18-2-2, reaching the Division II semifinals before dropping a 1-0 decision to eventual national champion Franklin Pierce.

Gannon Sweeps PSAC Athlete of the Week Awards
The PSAC announced its weekly award winners on Monday with Gannon sweeping the Western Division awards. In fact, it was a pair of freshmen who earned the honors. Per Kristian Lauvstad (Nesoya, Norway/) was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. A forward from Nesoya, Norway, PKL scored twice in the 4-0 win at Ashland, accounting for the first and third goals. He added Gannon's third goal in a 5-2 win over Wilmington (Del.). The freshman is off to a fast start with five goals in four matches. Abdo Salem Abdullah (Kristiansand, Norway) was selected the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week. A native of Kristiansand, Norway, the freshman made his first career appearance at Ashland. He made an impressive debut with five saves to post a 4-0 shutout over an Ashland team that defeated defending PSAC champion Millersville in its previous match.

Scouting Adelphi: The Panthers come in with a deceiving 1-2-1 record but like Gannon were receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II poll. They were 9-8-1 a year ago. After opening the season with a 2-1 win over Wilmington (Del.) Adelphi tied Post 1-1 in the second match of the Wilmington Kick-Off Tournament. Since then the Panthers have dropped back-to-back matches at home, to Mercy (2-0) and East Stroudsburg (5-1). Adelphi was picked to finish second to two-time defending national champion Franklin Pierce in the Northeast-10 Coach's Preseason Poll. Pablo Herrera leads Adelphi with two goals. Victor Castel, last year's leading scorer with seven goals, also has four points on a goal and two assists. Castel was an All-NE10 first team selection last year. Midfielder Alessio Consoli also earned first team all-conference honors.

Next for the Golden Knights:  Wed., Sept. 25 vs. Post at Lock Haven, Pa., 12 noon
