BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Gannon sophomore Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) moved into a first-place tie while helping the Gannon men's golf team surge into first in the standings at the Ferris State Bulldog Fall Classic on Monday.
 
The field of 63 golfers and 10 teams played 36 holes at par-71 Katke Golf Course on Monday, and Parrini took the lead with a 1-under-par 141 total. He shot even-par 70 and 1-under 70 in the second round. Parrini was tied with Ferris State's McCoy Biagioli and Wisconsin-Parkside's Peter Blazevic.
 
Gannon shot a 3-over-par 287 in the second round and closed the day with a 10-over 578. That was good for a one-stroke lead over host Ferris State.
 
Gannon also received a strong round from Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights), who shot a 1-under 70 in the second round to move into eighth place with a 2-over 144.
 
GU's Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) opened with a 72 and finished the day with a 5-over 147, while Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) carded a 6-over 148 after shooting a 72 in the second round. Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) rounded out the GU lineup by shooting 151 (74-77).
 
Playing as individuals, Kyle Westfall (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy (Erie)) shot a 150, including a second-round 72, and Dylan Flinchbaugh (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) carded a 155 (76-79).
