INDIANA, Pa. – Gannon junior
Shaunak Rama (Bryanston, South Africa/St Stithians Boys School) moved into the lead while helping the Golden Knights into second place in the team race after the opening day of IUP's Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational.

Rama shot a 2-under-par 69 to take a one-shot lead as Gannon posted a 12-over-par 296 in the team race at Indiana Country Club. The Golden Knights trail leader IUP by 15 shots after the Crimson Hawks shot a 3-under 281 on Monday. Gannon holds a two-stroke edge over third-place Charleston and Pitt-Johnstown.

Rama sank an eagle-3 on the par-5 No. 1 hole. He also carded birdies on Nos. 5, 6, 13 and 16. He holds a one-shot lead over five players, including three IUP golfers.
