ERIE, Pa. – After a week off the Gannon women's water polo team returns to the pool on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18, competing in the Robinette Invitational. Mercyhurst is hosting the event at Cathedral Prep's Hallman Aquatics Center.
 
Gannon will play four times during the two-day tournament. The Golden Knights open up play on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Chapman. The Panthers have played once this season, losing to Cal St. Fullerton. Later in the day Gannon faces Penn State Behrend at 2:00 p.m. The Lions are opening their season in the Robinette Invitational.
 
First-year coach Zarko Sadikovic's team has played in two tournaments to date and comes in with a 2-5 ledger. The Golden Knights won once in the Villanova Invitational, that coming against Mercyhurst by a 13-8 score, while losing to three Division I opponents. Two weeks ago they played in the VMI Invite and picked up win number two with a 12-8 victory over host VMI.
 
Jade Strickland (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) is pacing the Golden Knights the early going with 12 goals and four assists for 16 points.  A year ago the junior earned ACWPC honorable mention All-American honors and WWPA first team All-Conference recognition as a sophomore. She also earned a spot on the WWPA All-Tournament Team, landing on the second team. She was a member of the WWPA All-Freshman Team in 2022. Strickland was Gannon's leading scorer with 56 goals and 31 assists for 87 points. In addition she was second on the team in steals with 40. She has 98 goals in her first two seasons.

Sydney McGarry (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Ellie Velasco (Bronx, Calif./Arlington) each have nine goals and three assists for 12 points, while Josie Frisina (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria) has contributed five goals and five assists for 10 points.

Molly Sebunia (Erie, Pa./McDowell) will line up in goal. The junior has started all seven matches and has an 12.71 GAA with 58 saves and a .417 save percentage.
