Gannon men's golf team moves into 3rd place among 14 teams at Bill Crabtree Invitational in Kentucky

Giovanni Delorenzi leads Gannon with a 2-under 70

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Gannon men's golf team continued its run of fine play during the fall season by moving into third place among 14 teams in the Bill Crabtree Invitational on Monday.
 
Junior Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) shot a 2-under-par 70, and redshirt sophomore Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) added a 1-under 71 as No. 13-ranked Gannon finished with an 18-hole total of even-par 288 on the opening day of the two-day tournament at The Pearl Club. Gannon trails No. 22 Missouri S&T by 11 shots after the Miners surged into the lead with an 11-under 277 total.
 
Gannon is playing in its final event of the fall season after winning its first PSAC championship by 40 strokes during its last time out. It was the fifth tournament victory of the fall for the Golden Knights.
 
Delorenzi had four birdies and 12 pars on Monday as he shot even-par 36 on the front nine and 2-under 34 on the back. He is tied for sixth place, just two shots behind the leaders.
 
Seppanen had two birdies and 15 pars while shooting 35-36. He's tied for 13th place.
 
Senior Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) added a 1-over 73 that included four birdies, and sophomore Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) opened with a 2-over 74 that featured five birdies. Senior Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) had four birdies on the back nine while shooting a 2-over 74.
 
Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) rounded out Gannon's lineup with a 7-over 79.
 
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
