Golden Knights Post 19 PSAC-Qualifying Marks in Season Opener at Clarion

CLARION, Pa. – The Gannon men's swimming team opened the 2024-25 campaign with a 138-99 loss at Clarion. The meet was the debut of first-year head coach Milan Medo, who previously served as the head coach at Notre Dame (Ohio).
 
The highlight of the evening for the Golden Knights was19 PSAC-qualifying times, including four swimmers with a pair. That includes Malachi Boyle (Knoxville, Tenn./Home Life Academy) (1000 free, 100 breast); Emmanuel Cisneros (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young Magnet) (200 free, 500 free); Kuba Loboda (Lublin, Poland) (500 free, 100 fly); and Aidar Sataev (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan/Forest Hill) (100 breast, 100 fly).
 
Gannon swimmers won a total of four events. Loboda was the winner in the 50 freestyle, while Will Retsch (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the 200 IM and Emmanuel Cisneros (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young Magnet) the 500 freestyle. The foursome of  Bryce Buret, Connor Hebert (Damascus, Md./Damascus), Nikita Pau Poparcea Greiter (Sant Carles de la Rapita, Spain), and Loboda touched first in the 200 freestyle relay.
 
The actual score was much closer but Clarion accumulated 32 points in the diving events.
 
Gannon returns to action on Friday, October 25 with its first home meet. The Golden Knights will host RIT at 5:00 p.m. at the Carneval Pavilion of the Recreation and Wellness Center.
