Gannon women's golf team posts low scores on way to 3rd-place finish at DU Panther Invitational

Golden Knights card second-lowest 18-hole and 36-hole totals as a team

AUGUSTA, Mich. – The Gannon women's golf team recorded two of the best scores in program history on the way to a third-place finish on Sunday at the Davenport University Panther Invitational.
 
The Golden Knights carded their second-lowest 18-hole score ever with a 299 on Sunday and their second-lowest 36-hole tournament total with two-day total of 604. Gannon set the program's 18-hole record of 293 last season at the Clarion Invitational and set the 36-hole mark of 599 at the Charleston Golden Eagle Fall Invitational last season.
 
On Sunday, four Gannon players shot 75 or better, led by freshman Alexandria LeCureux (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston), who tied for sixth in the tournament with identical rounds of 74 for a 4-over-par 148 total. Senior Andrea Martinez (Tarragona, Spain/Col·legi Vedruna Sagrat Cor) shot 75 both days of the tournament to place ninth with a 6-over 150.
 
Senior Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) and sophomore Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) both shot 75 on Sunday as Petersen placed 15th with an 8-over 152 and Mateo finished 18th with a 10-over 154. Emily Donahue (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) shot a 169 (81-88) to round out Gannon's lineup.
 
Playing as individuals, Victoria Colmenares (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/ICL Academy) placed 19th (77-78—155) and Gunnhildur Gunnarasdottir  finished 43rd (86-80—166).
 
Saginaw Valley State won the team championship with a two-round score of 15-over 591. Tiffin's Lisa Marie Schumacher claimed the individual title with a 7-under-par 137 (67-70).
 
 
What's ahead:
 
Gannon will conclude the fall portion of the 2024-25 season on Oct. 26-27 when it competes in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational in Owensboro, Ky.
