DAVIS, W.Va. –
Ryan Ferry (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) shot a 5-under-par 67 to lead six Gannon golfers with under-par rounds as the Golden Knights moved into a second-place tie during the first day of the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational.
Gannon finished the first 18 holes with an 11-under-par score of 277, but the teams did not complete the scheduled 36 holes on the opening day at Canaan Valley Resort Golf Club. Charleston took the lead with a 17-under 271 through 18 holes, while IUP tied Gannon with a 277.

Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) had a 4-under 68, while
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena),
Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights), and
Shaunak Rama (Bryanston, South Africa/St Stithians Boys School) each carded a 1-under 71.
Playing as an individual,
Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) also shot a 4-under 68.
Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) turned in a 2-over 74 while playing as an individual.
On Tuesday, tournament officials will try to make sure that the second round is completed and the 18-hole final round is played in the scheduled 54-hole tournament.
Individual standings were not available on Monday night.
Gannon opened the season with a victory in the California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational, and Ferry claimed the tournament's individual title.
