ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon University men's golf team will play six tournaments this fall culminating with the PSAC Championships in late October.
The team's spring schedule will be released at a later date.
Head coach
Dustin Coleman's Golden Knights will tee off the 2023-24 season on Sept. 3-4 at the California (Pa.) Vulcan Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa. Gannon opened the 2022-23 season at the Vulcan Invitational and recorded the first of its five tourney victories in the fall portion of the season. The team added three victories in the spring as it turned in one of the finest seasons in Gannon golf history with eight tournament titles.
After a two-week break, the Knights will head to Davis, W.Va., where it will compete in the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational, hosted by Davis & Elkins on Sept. 18-19 at Canaan Valley Resort Golf Club.
Gannon will be the defending champion at Allegheny College's Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial on Sept. 24-25 at The Country Club of Meadville.
The Golden Knights will then prepare for a long weekend from Oct. 6-Oct. 9 when they will try to defend two tournament titles. They will compete in Mercyhurst's Laker Fall Invitational at Lake View Country Club in North East on Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7.
Gannon will then host the Howard "Bud" Elwell Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 8, and Monday, Oct. 9, at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
That will set the stage for the four-day PSAC Championships on Oct. 19-22 at Iron Valley Country Club in Lebanon, Pa. The Golden Knights will seek their first PSAC title after finishing as the runner-up in 2022.
Gannon lost PSAC Player of the Year
Abe Holmes (Barrie, Ontario/Barrie North Collegiate) to graduation, but five regular contributors return to the lineup: senior
Ryan Ferry (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), sophomore
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena), senior
Shaunak Rama (Bryanston, South Africa/St Stithians Boys School), and juniors
Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) and
Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional). The Knights also might receive contributions from other returnees and a solid recruiting class.
The men's golf team also will play a spring schedule in the hopes of advancing to the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional and the NCAA Division II Championships.
