Gannon Finishes 21st in WBCA Division II Postseason Top 25, 22nd in D2SIDA Poll

ERIE, Pa. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) today released its WBCA NCAA Division II Postseason Women's Basketball Coaches Poll. The Gannon women's basketball team is ranked 21st in the final rankings. In addition, the Golden Knights were 22nd in the final D2SIDA Women's Basketball National Poll.

Ashland, the Division II national champion, holds down the top spot in both polls after finishing undefeated at 37-0. The WBCA poll had runner-up Minnesota-Duluth (32-4) second with Glenville State (33-3), the Atlantic Region champion, third. Tampa (33-2) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (31-3) round out the top five. The D2SIDA poll concurred with the first four but had Catawba (29-6) ranked fifth. 

Gannon is the lone PSAC team in the WBCA final top 25, while West Chester was 21st in the D2SIDA rankings The Golden Knights completed yet another outstanding season under head coach Cleve Wright, ending the year with a 29-5 record. They were the PSAC West regular season champions and reached the PSAC Championship game for the third straight year. Gannon had winning streaks of 12, 10 and six games.

Wright has now guided Gannon to eight NCAA Tournament appearances. The 29 wins are the third-highest in team history. It's the eighth time in Wright's 15 seasons with 20-or-more wins.

Gannon was ranked in the WBCA poll most of the season, and entered the NCAA Tournament ranked 17th after climbing as high as 14th during the season. The Golden Knights ranked as high eighth in the D2SIDA poll.
