LEBANON, Pa. – Freshman
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) continued his fine spring season, and the Gannon University men's golf team moved into a tie for second place on the first day of the Atlantic/East Region Preview on Monday.
Delorenzi shot a 4-under-par 68 to take a three-shot lead among a talented field of 132 golfers. Meanwhile, Gannon endured a rough start, dropping to 11th place in the 25-team field before climbing into second place by the end of the 18-hole round. Gannon finished with a 13-over-par 301 total to tie with two other teams, two shots behind leader St. Thomas Aquinas (299).
Also scoring for Gannon were

Delorenzi scorched the back nine at Iron Valley Golf Club by sinking four birdies in six holes on his way to a 32. He shot a 36 on the front nine.
In March, Delorenzi turned in a third-place finish in the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Wesley Chapel, Fla. His three-round totals included a 1-under 69 and 1-over 71. After that event, Delorenzi was named PSAC Golf Athlete of the Week.
Holmes struggled on the first hole, shooting a triple bogey 7. However, he recovered to shoot just 1-over-par on the final 17 holes.
Rama countered his 6-over 42 on the front nine by shooting an even-par 36 on the back. Ruppert shot 40-39 to overcome a triple bogey on No. 1 and double bogey on No. 10.
