Gannon Ranked 13th in Latest United Soccer Coaches National Rankings

Golden Knights climb six spots in poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Gannon University men's soccer team continued its roller coaster ride in the national rankings this week. The Golden Knights climbed from 19th to 13th in the United Soccer Coaches Division II national rankings, that coming after dropping from seventh to 19th a week ago.

The Golden Knights vaulted six spots this week thanks to a pair of impressive wins as head coach Billy Colton's team improved to 8-0-1. The week began with a 5-1 win over a Mercyhurst team that came in ranked tenth. On Saturday Gannon went on the road and handed California (Pa.) a 5-0 defeat.

Gannon's lone blemish this year is a 1-1 tie at Saginaw Valley State. The Cardinals finished at 14-0-5 a year ago and were in the NCAA Tournament. Gannon has faced four 2022 NCAA playoffs teams this season.

The Golden Knights did not appear in the preseason poll and initial rankings but debuted two weeks ago in the ninth position.

Franklin Pierce remained atop the Division II Top 25, with Midwestern State climbing from fourth to second. California State-Chico dropped a spot to third, with Limestone fourth and Lynn fifth.

Gannon is ranked second in the Atlantic Region. Charleston (WV) holds down the top spot in the region and is ranked seventh nationally.

Gannon returns to action on Wednesday afternoon hosting Lock Haven in a non-conference match at McConnell Family Stadium. The match gets underway at 4:00 p.m..
