Petersen, Gannon Set Records in Dominating Showing at Claron Fall Invitational

Petersen shoots record 68 and sets new record with two-day total of 140

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – With Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) shooting a record round on Monday the Gannon women's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its season with a dominating performance in the Clarion Fall Invitational. The Golden Knights expanded a 19-stroke lead after the first day of competition to a final margin of 51 strokes to repeat as champions of the Clarion Fall Invitational. Clarion hosted the six-team tournament at Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville, Pa.

Despite chilly and damp conditions several records fell on Monday. The Golden Knights had an aggregate score of 293 on Monday, 5-over par. That is a new one-day record by six strokes. Combined with Sunday's 314 total Gannon finished 51 strokes ahead of second place Mercyhurst at 607. The Lakers finished at 658 (+82). Clarion was third at 690 (+114).

Petersen fired a school-record 68 to break the previous record of 70 held by three golfers. The junior from Denmark birdied five holes, including four on the back nine on her way to a 32 coming in on the par 35 back nine. She was one of only two golfers to shoot in the 70's on Sunday with an even-par 72. Her two-day total of 140 represents a new Gannon record.

Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) took home fourth place with the aid of three birdies, shooting a 75 on Monday and finishing with a 36-hole total of 156 (+12).
