The Gannon University swimming and diving teams, and water polo teams will enjoy an upgraded home pool during the 2022-23 seasons at the Gannon Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool underwent a series of summer renovations and received new equipment that will give the aquatic student-athletes a vastly improved experience when training and competing. There are still more upgrades on the way, too.
Fans will also enjoy the facility much more because of improved ventilation and lighting.
"I have been on the edge of my seat all summer with excitement for the completion of the pool renovation," said
Jacqueline Michalski, head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. "This would not have been possible without the support and guidance of our athletic administration, and the president of the university. The investment the department and university have made into our aquatics programs will allow for our continued success and growth for years to come."

The swimming and diving teams will use the upgraded facility for training and competition, beginning with Saturday's Maroon and Gold intrasquad meet.
Coach
Shane Unger's men's and women's water polo teams will use the revamped Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool for training almost exclusively. (The pool has a shallow end that is not ideal for water polo competition.) The water polo teams will continue to swim home meets at Cathedral Prep's David M. Hallman III Aquatics Center.

Still to come are a new pool filtration system and UV light treatment, which are scheduled to be installed in December.
"The refurbishment of the Gannon University Aquatics Center has massive implications for the experience of both spectators and the teams that call it home," said Gannon swimmer
Stephen McCallum (Cape Town, South Africa/Wynberg Boys'). "Our upgraded ability to host meets will allow many of us the first opportunity to compete at home in front of our friends and family. This will be a first for all students who have called Gannon home since 2020, myself included."
Diver
Kyla Miller (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) is eager to dive off the new boards at the Gannon venue.
"I'm thrilled to be able to compete one-meter and three-meter right here at Gannon," she said. "As a rising junior, I haven't experienced a home meet yet, but I am happy to say that this season will be the first of many."
Divers will also benefit from new video equipment from Sideline Scout.
The Maroon and Gold Meet will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
