AZUSA, Calif. – The No. 6-ranked Gannon Acrobatics & Tumbling team is spending spring break on a western road trip that features matchups with a trio of top-5 nationally-ranked teams. The first stop on the road trip was Azusa, California for a tri-meet against No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific and No. 5 Hawaii Pacific.

Gannon was victorious by a decisive margin over the fifth-ranked Sharks, 269.965-251.771. It was Gannon's third win over a top-10 team this season, as the Knights already own wins over No. 4 Quinnipiac and No. 8 Fairmont State earlier this season.

The Knights dropped a 275.600-269.965 against No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific.

Gannon posted the highest score in six heats on Tuesday evening, including three heats in the compulsory event. Gannon posted a score of 9.75 in the compulsory pyramid, a 9.95 in compulsory toss and a meet-best 8.85 in compulsory tumbling. The Knights won the compulsory event with a score of 37.65, compared to 37.45 for Azusa Pacific and 34.15 for Hawaii Pacific.

Gannon also posted the highest score of the meet in the inversion pyramid (9.80), synchronized pyramid (9.60), and open toss heats (9.85). In addition, the Knights posted impressive scores in the three individual tumbling passes, with junior Michaelah Lanza (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) posting a 9.35 (out of 9.70) in the aerial pass, sophomore Ali Price (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) turned in a 9.725 (out of 10.0) in the six-element pass, and Caitlyn Crawford (Reston, Va./South Lakes) posted a 9.80 (out of 9.90) in the open pass.

In the head-to-heat dual against Hawaii Pacific, Gannon outscored the Sharks in 17 of 19 heats and each of the six events. The Knights held nearly a nine-point advantage (91.490-82.570) over HPU in the team event alone.

Gannon will now travel to Eugene, Oregon for a matchup against the No. 3 Oregon Ducks on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. PT (7 p.m. ET) inside Mathew Knight Arena.
