ERIE, PA. (June 30th, 2025) - Gannon University has promoted current assistant coach Addy Womeldorph to Head Coach of the GU Acrobatics & Tumbling program, Director of Athletics Meghan Morphy announced on Monday.
Womeldorph has served as an assistant coach for the team for the past two seasons and follows Brandy Duren, who stepped down from her position following the conclusion of the 2025 season.
"Addy's dedication to Gannon and the Acrobatics & Tumbling program made her the clear choice to serve as our next Head Coach," said Meghan Morphy, Director of Athletics. "She has shown exceptional leadership skills as both a coach and student-athlete for the past six years and has played a key role in their success on the mat, in the classroom, and in the community. We are confident she will build upon the program's strong foundation and are excited for her to lead our program to continued success."
Womeldorph has been an important part of Acrobatics & Tumbling at GU, both as a student-athlete and coach. In her first season as an assistant coach, she helped guide the Golden Knights to two individual event national championships, as the Golden Knights team secured a spot in the NCATA National Championship, finishing as national runners-up.
Before being named to the coaching staff, she spent four seasons with the Golden Knights as a member of the A&T team, playing an integral role in the team's 2022 NCATA national runner-up finish. During her athletic career, Womeldorph competed in three national champion events over her final two seasons with the team. Her team won the Synchronized Toss and the Synchronized Pyramid national championships in 2022 and claimed the Synchronized Toss again in 2023.
Womeldorph received the Gannon Acrobatics and Tumbling Leadership Award after the 2023 season. A year earlier, she was recognized as the team's Medal of Honor recipient.
"I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of Head Coach for Gannon University's Acrobatics and Tumbling team," said Womeldorph. "As a proud alumna of this program, I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to build on the strong foundation laid by those who came before me and to help elevate this team to its fullest potential. I want to thank Meghan Morphy and the Gannon Athletics Department for their trust and support throughout my time at Gannon. Their guidance has played a pivotal role in preparing me for this moment, a dream I have always strived to achieve. With such talented athletes and the outstanding support of Gannon University, I'm confident we will accomplish great things together. Let's get to work. Go Knights!"
Womeldorph received her Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science in May 2023 and is pursuing her Master of Science in Applied Exercise Physiology.
