GOING FOR FINALS BERTH
 Â
ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon University women's soccer team is one win away from a program first, but the Golden Knights first must get past one of the premier defensive teams in the PSAC.
Gannon will host the PSAC Final Four beginning Friday with a pair of semifinal games at McConnell Family Stadium. Mercyhurst and West Chester will meet in the opener at noon, followed by Bloomsburg and Gannon at 3 p.m.
Bloomsburg, the No. 2 seed from the PSAC East, has allowed just seven goals all season while recording 14 shutouts and allowing an average of 0.37 goals per game. The Huskies will take on a Gannon team that is looking for the program's first-ever berth in the PSAC West finals.
Since joining the PSAC in 2008, the Gannon women's soccer team has reached the PSAC semifinals five times. It lost each of those semifinals. After Tuesday's quarterfinal win over Seton Hill, Gannon is now 6-5 all-time in the PSAC quarterfinals and 6-10 in the PSAC Tournament.
Bloomsburg finished second in the PSAC East with two of its losses coming to top-seeded West Chester by scores of 3-1 and 1-0. No other team has scored more than one goal against the Huskies.
GANNON VS. BLOOMSBURG HISTORY
Gannon is 8-10-2 against Bloomsburg all-time. Many of coach
Colin Petersen's players have recent history against the Huskies. Bloomsburg eliminated Gannon from the 2021 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional with a 2-1 overtime victory in the opening round.

PLAYOFF CHANGE
Earlier this year the NCAA eliminated overtime play during the regular season. However, overtime is back for the postseason.
Should teams play to a tie after regulation, there will be two 10-minute overtimes that will be played to completion. If the teams are tied after the second overtime, the teams will go to a five-round shootout. If there is still a tie after five rounds, the shootout will continue one round at a time until one team leads after a completed round.
