Gannon seniors Sarah Fails (Girard, Pa./Villa Maria) and Leah Bermudez (Milton, Ontario/Jean Vanier Catholic) have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Women's Soccer Atlantic Region All-Star Team.

Fails secured a spot on the D2CCA All-Region First Team, while Bermudez landed a spot on the Second Team.

Together they helped Gannon win the PSAC West regular-season title, earn a berth in the PSAC Tournament championship game, and advance to the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.

The Golden Knights finished the season with a 15-4-4 record after losing to Kutztown 1-0 on Sunday in the Atlantic Regional semifinals.

Fails, a 5-foot-4 forward, used her speed, moves, and shooting accuracy to lead the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with 12 goals and 29 points during her senior year. She was credited with five game-winning goals. She also dished out five assists.

Fails earlier was named PSAC West Athlete of the Year and landed a spot on the All-PSAC West First Team.

The 5-foot-4 Bermudez was a top defensive player for the Golden Knights as she stopped many scoring threats in the middle of the defense.

Bermudez also scored four goals, all on headers off corner kicks. Three of her goals were game winners.

She previously was selected as a PSAC West First Team All-Star.
