GROVE CITY, PA -- The Gannon University men's golf team is in second place, one stroke out of the lead, after the opening day of Clarion University's Hal Hansen Invitational.
The Golden Knights, seeking their fifth consecutive tournament title, shot a 13-over-par 301 on Sunday at Grove City Country Club as they trailed only Grove City College in the 12-team standings.
However, six teams are within eight strokes of the leaders.
Abe Holmes (Barrie, Ontario/Barrie North Collegiate), who has won three individual tourney titles this season, is in third place after shooting a 1-under-par 71. He's one shot off the lead.
Gannon's
Dylan Flinchbaugh (Saegertown/Saegertown) is tied for fourth after carding a 2-over 74 while playing as an individual.
Ryan Ferry (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) added a 4-over 76, as did
Shaunak Rama (Bryanston, South Africa), who was playing as an individual.
Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional)Â and
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy) each shot 77, while
Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) had a 79.
The tournament concludes on Monday.
