LEBANON, PA – If the Gannon University men's golf team hopes to win its first PSAC team title in program history, the Golden Knights will have to turn in a huge comeback in Sunday's final round.
After trailing by eight strokes entering the second round of the PSAC Championships at Iron Valley Golf Club, second-place Gannon closed to within six shots of the lead on several occasions on Saturday. However, the Knights eventually settled at a 10-stroke deficit going into the third and final round.
Indiana University of Pennsylvania finished the second round with a 9-over-par 585 total, and Gannon closed at 19-over 595.
Gannon was led by junior
Ryan Ferry (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), who shot a 2-under-par 70 on Saturday. Ferry was tied with teammates
Abe Holmes (Barrie, Ontario/Barrie North Collegiate) and
Shaunak Rama (Bryanston, South Africa) for third place at 2-over-par 146, just one stroke behind the co-leaders. Christopher Knox of Millersville and Alex Swinnerton of IUP were both at 1-over 145.

Abe Holmes follows through on an iron shot at the PSAC Championships.
Holmes shot even-par 72 after opening with a 74 on Friday. Rama shot a 5-under-par 67 on Friday to take the tourney lead, but he followed that with a 79 on Saturday.
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy) (79-78-157) and
Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) (82-79-161) rounded out the lineup for Gannon.
Coach
Dustin Coleman's Golden Knights entered the weekend having won all five team titles and all five individual titles during their five fall tournaments. However, if the Knights hope to make it six in a row, they will need to make up a lot of ground on Sunday.
Since joining the PSAC in 2008, the Gannon men's golf team has never won a conference tournament title.
