CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Gannon University women's swimming team wrapped up Day 1 of the Magnus Cup with multiple solid performances in the pool, all while competing against multiple Division I programs. The team finished the day in ninth place (of 11 teams) and trails eighth place but just four points. The University of Akron sits atop the women's standings.
Highlights
- Brynn Driscoll (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) qualified for the "A" final in the 50 yard breaststroke, finishing 10th in 30.16. Alex Pannemann (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) touched the wall first in the "D" final with a time of 32.69.
- Silvija Taraska (Wickliffe, Ohio/Lake Catholic) finished third in the "D" final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.27.
- Nomvula Mjimba (Harare, Zimbabwe) claimed sixth place in the 50 freestyle "D" final in 24.61.
- Chenay Date Line (Johannesburg, South Africa) qualified for the "D" final in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 5:12.76.
All times listed above are also PSAC qualifying times for their respective events, except for the 50 yard breaststroke, which is not an event at the PSAC Championships.
