GANNON UPDATE
  • A surreal day in the sporting world saw the remainder of the 2020 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships canceled in the middle of the second day of competition, as the NCAA canceled all remaining winter and spring championships in all divisions due to the growing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A busy morning got underway with the 200 freestyle relay prelims, which featured Brent Benedict (Corry, Pa./Corry), Andrew Mahoney (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Luke Engel (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) and Clark Eason (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) making the first-ever appearance at the NCAA championships for a Gannon men's relay team.
  • The Golden Knights would finish 20th in the nation in the prelims, finishing in 1:22.30, less than a second out of moving on to the evening finals.
  • Benedict also took part in his second individual event in as many days, coming in 10th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.47. He would not get a chance to better that position in the evening's finals, but still earned the third All-America finish of his career.

UP NEXT
  • The Golden Knights return to the pool to kick off the 2020-21 season in October.
