AROUND THE LEAGUE
SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: California leads 23-21
  • Last meeting: Jan. 22, 2020 – at Gannon – GU 66, Cal U 40 – Box Score
  • Recap: California leads the all-time series 23-21 despite a Gannon win earlier this year. The Knights took down the Vulcans 66-40 on their home court giving up the fewest points allowed this season. Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) scored a game-leading 19 points, while Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) both flirted with a double-double. Rourke went 5-of-8 from the field with four three pointers to finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Tewes added 12 points and nine boards. Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) dished out a career-high 11 assists.
  • 2019-20 Preview: The Knights are coming off two 80-point performances last week against Clarion and Slippery Rock. It was the first time Gannon scored over 80 points in back-to-back games since beating West Chester and Millersville to open conference play back in November. Gannon heads to California for its final regular season game before returning home to host a PSAC Tournament game next week. After a rough start to conference play, the Vulcans turned things around as they battle for the third spot in the conference tournament.

SCOUTING GANNON
  • Three continues to be the charm for Gannon as the Knights are 21-0 when three players score double-figures. Against Slippery Rock, Obenrader (18), Rourke (16), and Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) (16) all scored double figures for Gannon. Four players contributed vs. Clarion led by Obenrader with 19. Tewes (14), Rourke (12), and Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) (10) all scored 10 or more points. Gannon is 13-0 when four players score double-figures.
  • Two players recorded double-doubles last week for the Knights. Tewes got the first one vs. Clarion in Gannon's 88-61 win over the Golden Eagles. Tewes was 4-of-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the foul line. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Obenrader followed suit on Saturday vs. The Rock. She was 5-of-7 from the field with two three pointers, while finished 6-of-7 from the line. Obenrader finished the game with 18 points and 10 boards.
  • The Knights have scored nearly 950 points in the paint so far this season and have outscored their opponents by 249. Fifty-four of their 88 points scored vs. Clarion came in the paint, while the Knights outscored the Rock 44-14.
  • Gannon shot over 53 percent from the field vs. Slippery Rock and climbed to No. 14 in the country with a 46.8 field goal percentage. Wednesday vs. Clarion marked the second time this year the Knights shot over 60 percent. Obenrader ranks 36th in the country in field goal percentage (55.0). Teammate McKinney also finds herself among some of the best in the country. With 127 assists on the year, McKinney ranks 24th in the NCAA in total assists.

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
  • The Vulcans have won seven of their last eight games with their only loss in that stretch coming to a hot Edinboro team. Cal U handed Indiana its only conference loss on the season after defeating the Crimson Hawks 57-52 back on Feb. 12.
  • Bianca Jasper scores 10.9 points per game for the Vulcans and has stepped up in the absence of Monica Burns. Jasper has three straight double-figure performances including a monster performance at Seton Hill two weeks ago. She scored 19 points while tallying eight rebounds, six assists, and seven steals.
  • Shauna Harrison is Cal U's leading rebounder with 5.6 rebounds per game. She also adds 9.8 points per game.
