GANNON BROADCAST INFORMATION:
AROUND THE WWPA:
GANNON STORYLINES/NOTES:
  • Gannon has matched its win total from last season under first year head coach Shane Unger, and the Lady Knights will square off with Sonoma State in the opening round of the WWPA Tournament for the second time in three seasons.
  • Friday's matchup will be the first action for Gannon since a hard-fought 11-10 triumph over Mercyhurst back on April 13 in Erie.
  • The Lady Knights have no shortage of scoring options, but Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) and Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) are the top two statistical threats on the offensive end. Fehr (59 G, 7 A, 66 Pts) is tied for third in the league in scoring and leads the WWPA with 2.81 goals/game. Ruh (44 G, 27 A, 71 Pts) is among the program's most prolific scorers, ranking 10th in school history with 124 career goals.
  • With 59 goals this season, Fehr is 10th all-time in Gannon's single-season goals list. She needs just two goals to move into sole possession of eighth place, jumping Katelyn Jacobs and Natalie Grabowski.
  • Ruh is tenth in the league with 71 points in 2019 and ranks fifth among WWPA players in points/game with 3.38 in 21 contests this season.
  • Senior goalie Isabelle Vieira (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) has been a mainstay in the cage for the Lady Knights this season, starting in all 21 games. She has stopped 179 shots this season, the third most among WWPA goalkeepers in 2019.
  • Vieira continues to leave her mark on the program record books, ranking fourth in program history with 419 career saves. She is one of just four players in program history to save at least 400 shots over the course of her career.
  • Nicole Wiemken (Napoleon, Ohio /Napoleon) has burst onto the scene in her first year at Gannon and sits fifth on the team in points. Wiemken is one of five players this season with at least 20 goals and has posted seven tallies over the past two games.
  • Julia Kredigner and Sydney Fountain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) have also emerged as scoring threats for Gannon, each posting at least 50 points in 21 games this season.
  • Liz Barr (Honolulu, Hawaii/'Iolani School) and Alison Cooney (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) each registered a pair of goals for the Lady Knights in a 12-6 setback to Sonoma State back on April 28, 2017 at the SPIRE Institute in Ohio.

SCOUTING SONOMA STATE:
  • Sonoma State holds a 3-0 edge in the brief series with Gannon, including a victory in the first round of the 2017 WWPA Championships.
  • The SeaWolves have also won seven games this season, including a narrow 14-13 victory over Fresno Pacific on April 6.
  • Annika Erickson leads the SeaWolves with 44 goals and 52 points. Brooke Sullivan has made 208 saves in goal in her 20 starts in 2019.
  • Sullivan is second in the WWPA with 48 steals and is one of just four players in the league with 40 or more steals this season.
  • Second year head coach Chelsea Hennan is a former All-American for Sonoma State. She won the WWPA Women's Coach of the Year in 2017 and enters her 13th season as a coach at Sonoma State.

UP NEXT:
  • Gannon will play one game in each day of the 2019 WWPA Championships.
  • The Lady Knights return to the pool for Day Two at 12:00 PM or 1:30 PM against an opponent yet to be determined.
