The Gannon softball team returns to action Tuesday after a week off to host Notre Dame College in the 2019 home opener at McConnell Family Stadium at 3 p.m. The Lady Knights won their sixth consecutive game Friday, March 15 with a doubleheader sweep at Clarion, where
Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) led the team with six hits and an RBI between the two games.
Autumn Smith (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) had a team-high three RBI against the Golden Eagles, while
Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) and
Taylor Wilp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) each notched two RBI apiece. Notre Dame is on a three-game skid after dropping the second game against Fairmont State and two games against Shepherd.

The Lady Knights will look to snap out of a three-game skid against the Fighting Scots to continue PSAC play Wednesday afternoon. Gannon charged back from a halftime deficit to outscore Lock Haven in the second half Saturday, tying the game with just 68 seconds to play, but the Bald Eagles scored in the final 30 seconds to steal a win.
Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) and
Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) combined for nine goals in the game, and both are in the top nine in the conference in goals per game, with Rotondo standing second with 3.83. Edinboro has struggled to a winless mark, and is allowing the most goals in the league.

The Golden Knights will look to continue their hot start in PSAC play, welcoming Clarion for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon. Gannon notched four wins last weekend to begin the conference slate against Slippery Rock, earning two home wins on Saturday before snagging two more wins on the road Sunday. The Golden Knights showed tremendous balance throughout the lineup on offense against SRU, with seven players hitting at least .300 in the four-game stretch.
Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) has started all 20 games for the Golden Knights, and leads the team with a .397 average to go along with six home runs and 20 RBI. Cardy picked up the third four-hit game of his Gannon career in the final game of the day against The Rock on Sunday, and he was one of four players to crack a home run over the weekend. Gannon has also received strong efforts from their starting pitching this year, with

Jarod Morrison (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton),

Following the opening of PSAC action at Mercyhurst Friday night, Gannon returns home Saturday afternoon to host Seton Hill at McConnell Family Stadium at 1 p.m. Through 15 games, seven Lady Knights are hitting above .300, led by
Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) (.442), who has a team-high 19 hits, 11 RBI, five doubles and four homers. In the circle,
Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) has fanned 30 batters while
Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) has 29 strikeouts. The winner of four in a row, Seton Hill is led by Jenna Osikozwicz, who is hitting .431 with 25 hits. Skyla Greco picked up PSAC West Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday after hurling a no-hitter against Wheeling Jesuit last week.

After an extended break since they stayed unbeaten with a win over No. 10 King, the Lady Knights will return to the mat for their final home meet of the year Saturday evening, hosting No. 3 Quinnipiac. The Bobcats are the defending national runners-up, and were picked third in the preseason national poll. Quinnipiac is 2-2 on the season, but those two defeats came to the two teams ahead in the poll in Oregon and Baylor. Gannon is 3-0 on the year, including wins over nationally-ranked King and Alderson Broaddus.

The Lady Knights are set for their lone home event of the 2019 season on Saturday night, welcoming Villanova for Senior Night at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion. It will be the second game of the day for Gannon, which faces the Penn State club team earlier in the day on the campus of Penn State-Behrend. The Lady Knights will compete in their first action since March 16, where they split a pair of games against Mercyhurst (W, 7-5) and Saint Francis (L, 11-9). Gannon boasts a balanced scoring attack under the direction of first year head coach
Shane Unger, with
Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County),
Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria),
Sydney Fountain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) and
Julia Kredinger (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) all posting at least 48 points this season. Senior
Isabelle Vieira (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) has been a stalwart in the cage, starting every game for the Lady Knights this season.
