HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ben Andrews (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) scored his first goal of the game on a misplay by the Daemen goalkeeper. Andrews shot the ball into the net near the right post to put Gannon up 1-0.
  • The Wildcats scored their lone goal of the match a few minutes later at the 5:49 mark on a penalty kick. Pontus Lundin sent the ball into the low right of the net past the Gannon goalkeeper.
  • The Knights went on to score four more unanswered goals before the end of the half. Joe Knox (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) and Lennox Crews (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizschule) scored less than two minutes apart to give the Knights a 3-1 lead.
  • Alex Lee Yaw (Jamestown, N.Y./Mercyhurst Prep) struck next for Gannon at the 39:55 mark on an assist from James Randall (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School). Lee Yaw beat the goalkeeper who charged to block the shot giving Lee Yaw an open net.
  • Gannon took a 6-1 lead before the half after an own goal scored by Daemen. A defender played the ball back to the goalkeeper who failed to chase it down resulting in a Gannon goal.
  • Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain) scored the first goal after the break to put the Knights up 7-1. Anthony Marafioti (Melbourne, Australia/Penleigh & Essendon) sent the ball into the box on a cross where Castillo was to head it into the net.
