Gannon Welcomes Clarion in 10th Annual Pink Zone Doubleheader; Free Admission to All Fans (Game Notes)

GAME INFORMATION
  • General Admission Ticket Prices: FREE to all fans. Just wear PINK! Donations to help fight cancer will be gladly accepted.
  • Doors: Open at 12 noon. The contest will be part of a PSAC doubleheader that begins with the women's teams at 1 p.m.

PINK ZONE DOUBLEHEADER
  • Saturday represents Gannon's 10th annual Pink Zone doubleheader.
  • Admission is free, but donations to help fight cancer will be gladly accepted.
  • All fans are asked to wear pink in an effort to Fill the 'Mill with Pink in our fight against cancer. Pink Zone t-shirts will be available for purchase in the front lobby of the Hammermill Center.
  • The event honors and recognizes breast cancer survivors, as well as educates about breast cancer while helping raise funds for breast cancer research and those affected by the disease.
  • The front lobby of the Hammermill Center will be filled with raffles, gift baskets, sponsor tables and much more.
  • The Lady Knights raised $11,000 as a result of last year's Pink Zone.
  • Last year's generated funds stayed local as both Linked by Pink and the American Cancer Society received a check worth $5,500.
  • The first nine Pink Zone games and related fundraising activities have successfully raised $123,109 to join in the fight against breast cancer.

  • First Meeting: February 21, 1976 – at Clarion 74, Gannon 48

  • Series Notes: Gannon leads the all-time series, 35-14. The Lady Knights have won 18 games in a row over Clarion dating back to the 1994-95 season. Gannon is 17-6 all-time at the Hammermill Center against Clarion.

  • Four Lady Knights reached double-figures against Edinboro on Wednesday (Jan. 11), the first effort of the kind this season.
  • Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) is the PSAC leader in free-throw percentage (88.4 percent).
  • Mitchell also ranks third among conference players in free throw attempts (76) and free throws made (86).
  • Saunders has the second-most double-doubles (6) in the conference. That figure is also 32nd-best in Division II.

  • Clarion leads the PSAC in three-point field goals attempted (426), three-point field goals made (154) and three-point field goals made per game (9.6).
  • The Golden Eagles' 154 three-point field goals rank fourth at the Division II level.
  • Clarion has secured the most rebounds in the conference this season with 659 boards.
  • Tyra Polite leads the PSAC in field goal attempts (267) and ranks fifth nationally.
  • Polite also leads the conference in threes attempted (141), made (51) and three-pointers made per game (3.2).
