The Short Story: The No. 8 Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team recorded scores of 9.50 or better in six heats, but still dropped a 285.175-261.480 decision to No. 1 Baylor Sunday night in a national quarterfinal meet at the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships. Baylor University hosted the Elite Eight at the Ferrell Center.

MEET NOTES

Baylor opened a 38.75-35.75 lead after sweeping the opening compulsory event.
The Bears followed with victories in the acro (29.55-28.50) and pyramid (29.65-28.85) events to assume a 97.95-93.10 halftime lead.
Baylor stretched its lead by winning the toss (29.35-27.70) and tumbling (57.775-50.600) events.
The Bears capped the victory with a 100.10-90.08 edge during the final team event.

BEYOND THE SCORESHEET

Gannon was making its second Elite Eight appearance during the program's three-year history.
Baylor is ranked No. 1 in the country while Gannon is tabbed eighth.
Gannon recorded scores of 9.50 or better six times.
Baylor and Gannon were facing each other for the first time ever.
