The Short Story: The No. 5 Quinnipiac acrobatics and tumbling team won 16 of 19 heats and the team routine competition to hand No. 9 Gannon its first loss of the season by a 280.545-258.960 score Sunday afternoon at the TD Bank Sports Center.

MEET NOTES

The first half was almost even as Quinnipiac held a slight 96.55-95.40 lead at the intermission.
Gannon's three victories all came during the first half.
The Lady Knights won two of the three acro heats to capture a 29.45-28.05 victory in the event.
Gannon won the opening flip heat of the pyramid portion of the meet, before losing the event by 0.05 point.
Quinnipiac pulled away in the second half by sweeping the toss and tumbling events.
The Bobcats wrapped up the victory with a 100.82-89.26 win in the team routine.

Gannon was ranked No. 9 in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) preseason coaches' poll.
Quinnipiac was tabbed No. 5 in the NCATA preseason coaches' poll.
Gannon fell to 0-3 all-time against Quinnipiac.
The Lady Knights entered Sunday's meet 2-0 for the first time in the program's three-year existence.
Gannon won 31 of 38 heats and both team routines during the first two meets of the season.
The Lady Knights have won the acro five element heat and pyramid flip heat during all three meets this season.

Gannon will be idle for almost two weeks until returning to action Thursday, March 10 at the Fairmont State tri-meet with Azusa Pacific (Calif.).
The tri meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Azusa Pacific was tabbed fourth in the NCATA preseason coaches' poll while Fairmont State was listed seventh.
Gannon is 0-3 all-time against Fairmont State.
The Lady Knights dropped a 283.225-263.3 decision to Azusa Pacific during their only previous encounter in the 2014 NCATA National Championship Quarterfinals. That was Gannon's inaugural year.
