HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon scored all four runs during the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) led off with a single down the left field line and moved to second base on Aaron Cox's sacrifice bunt. After a bunt single by senior Sean Sutton (Toronto, Ontario/Brebeuf College), freshman Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) drove home the game's first run with a pinch-hit double to right field.
  • Sophomore Nick Restuccia (Ormond Beach, Fla./Father Lopez Catholic) followed with an RBI single. A throwing error by the catcher then cleared the bases, allowing both Oruch and Restuccia to score for a 4-0 lead.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Aaron Cox struck out 10 hitters and walked none during his season debut. He faced one batter above the minimum, hitting the second batter of the fifth inning.
  • Seven different Golden Knights recorded a hit.
  • Sutton was the lone Gannon player with multiple hits, going 2-of-3 and scoring a run.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Cox's no-hitter was the first of his collegiate career and fifth in the history of the Gannon baseball program.
  • It represented the second no-hitter in the last two seasons. Senior Dustin Godden threw a no-hitter against Findlay last season.
  • The other Gannon pitchers to throw no-hitters were Larry Potash against Steubenville in 1968, Dick Eaton against Houghton in 1977 and Joel Oakman against Northwood (Mich.) in 2000.
  • Gannon won its season opener for the fourth consecutive year.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Limestone led 5-0 after four innings. The Saints scored three unearned runs during their first at-bat.
  • After an error extended the inning, Limestone produced an RBI single and two-run homer with two outs.
  • The home squad used a pair of Gannon errors to add a fourth unearned run during the second inning.
  • After Limestone extended its lead to 5-0 during the bottom of the fourth inning, Gannon dented the scoreboard with a single tally during the top of the fifth inning.
  • Freshman Gregory Nicolia (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) recorded a one-out single and stole second base. Junior Jared Weisen (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) followed with an RBI single up the middle.
  • Limestone tacked on an insurance run during the bottom of the frame to account for the final 6-1 score.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
  • Weisen went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
  • Four Golden Knights added one hit each.
  • Sophomore Brian Fisher (Coal Center, Pa./California Area) suffered the loss despite allowing only one earned run in four innings of work. He surrendered four unearned runs while giving up five hits. Fisher struck out two and walked two.
  • Senior Matt Wilwohl (Erie, Pa./McDowell) came out of the bullpen to pitch the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Second on the team in multiple-hit games (13) last season, Weisen produced his first multiple-hit performance of 2015 on opening day.
