The Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team made school history Friday night with its first-ever victory, winning 19 of 20 heats.

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team made history Friday night with a dominating performance. The Lady Knights sweep all six events and won 19 of 20 heats while posting a 264.955-239.655 victory at Adrian (Mich.) for the first-ever win in program history.

Gannon jumped out to a 33.75-30.30 lead after the opening compulsory event, sweeping all four heats. The Lady Knights recorded a pair of scores over the 9.00 benchmark. The pyramid compulsory team produced the highest mark with a 9.65 score. The toss compulsory squad followed with a 9.35-9.20 victory.

Head coach Chelsea Shaw's club steam rolled through the acro event, winning all three heats by at least 1.29 points en route to a 90.72-80.95 lead after two events. The six-element team of Haili Menard (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood), Amanda Till (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon), Alexa Maldonado (Dundee, Ore./Newberg) and Lindsay Moir (Erie, Pa./McDowell) recorded the highest mark with a 9.51-7.81 win.

Lindsey McKnight (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), Moir, Haley Garelick (Valencia, Calif./William S. Hart) and Kayla Telego (Knox, Pa./Keystone) opened the acro event with a 9.45-7.32 decision in the five-element heat. McKnight, Ravyne Barnett (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield), Garelick, Ciara Rand (Goodyear, Ariz./Verrado) and Moir wrapped up the acro sweep with a 9.21-7.92 verdict.

Gannon performed well in the pyramid event with three more victories and two scores of 9.7 or better. The Lady Knights recorded winning heats of 9.75-9.15, 9.70-9.20 and 9.35-9.25.

The win streak extended to 12 consecutive heats with a pair of victories in the toss event. McKnight, Garelick, Telego, Rand, Jessica Page (Eden, N.Y./Eden) and Maldonado won the first heat by a 9.40-8.90 count. The Lady Knights also took home the second heat, before Adrian captured its lone win during the final toss heat. Gannon's 27.15-26.25 overall toss win gave the Lady Knights a 117.87-107.20 advantage through four events.

Gannon responded with victories during all six heats in the tumbling event. The best score was a 9.33 by Page in the open heat. Other individual tumbling winners included Menard in the six-element heat (9.05) and McKnight in the aerial heat (8.65).

The duo of Menard and Page opened the tumbling event with an 8.50-6.70 victory. Till, Page and Menard followed with a win in the trio heat. The quad performance verdict went to McKnight, Till, Barnett and Maldonado. The tumbling sweep resulted in a 51.125-42.725 difference, giving the Lady Knights a 168.995-149.925 overall lead.

The night came to an end with a 95.96-89.73 Gannon victory in the team routine. The final act provided the Lady Knights with a 264.955-239.655 win.

Gannon improved to 1-2 with Friday's victory. Adrian (Mich.) saw its record even at 1-1. The Lady Knights return to action Sunday, March 9 at the Alderson Broaddus Tri-Meet that pits Gannon, King (Tenn.) and Alderson Broaddus. The tri-meet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
