ERIE, Pa. - Junior Brittany Batts (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) set a career game-high 28 points, as the No. 2 Gannon women's basketball team defeated the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Division opponent Cheyney on Wednesday evening at the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Behrend. The Lady Knights conclude PSAC crossover action this season undefeated with a 6-0 mark, capturing their 22nd consecutive win in cross-divisional play. The Lady Knights improve to 15-0 on the season and the Wolves fall to 1-12 overall.

Leading the Lady Knights in back-to-back games was Batts with a career evening against the Wolves, the only Lady Knight to reach double digits. Shooting 10-for-14 in the game, Batts set a career game-high in field goals made. She also tied a career game-high with eight three-pointers, including five in the second half alone. The junior has compiled 208 career three-pointers, moving her 14 away from breaking into the top-three of the program's all-time list.

In total, 12 Lady Knights registered at least a bucket in the win over Cheyney. Junior Nettie Blake (Jersey City, N.J./Marist) finished with a game-high 13 rebounds including eight offensive boards to go along with eight points. The Lady Knights were steady from the field in both halves, shooting 47.9 percent (34-71) in the game.

Lachelle Miller led the Wolves with 12 points in only 17 minutes, leaving the game in the first half following a collision under the boards. Kia Duncan-Whitley recorded 10 points with five assists. Shayna Miller registered a team-high seven rebounds for the Wolves. Cheyney shot 45.8 percent (22-48) for the day, heating up in the second half with a 51.9 shooting percentage (14-27) after struggling in the opening half.

The two teams combined for 43 turnovers with the Lady Knights recording 21 and Cheyney 22. Nearly two-thirds of the Wolves' turnovers came off 14 Gannon steals, as the Lady Knights have reached double figures in the category in three consecutive games and for the fourth time in five games.

On the boards, the Lady Knights pulled in 44 rebounds compared to the Wolves' 28. Reaching double digits for the sixth time this season, Blake moved into 10th on the program's career all-time list with 599. A total of 12 Lady Knights recorded at least one rebound each with sophomore Jennie Thies (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern) pulling in a season game-high five to finish second.

After the Lady Knights scored the opening four points in the game, Cheyney's Lachelle Miller went on an 8-0 solo run to give the Wolves an 8-4 lead with 17:19 left.

The Lady Knights answered back with a 7-0 run in the next 3:20 to retake the lead, 11-8, off Batts' first three of the evening and a layup by Papich. Lachelle Miller and Batts exchanged threes before Destiny McFarlane pulled the Wolves within two, 14-12, with 11:03 remaining.

From there, the Lady Knights erupted for a 20-0 run over a span of 5:31 to take control the game and the lead, 34-12. Thies closed the Lady Knights' run on a layup, giving the team its widest lead of the opening half.

The Wolves scored 10 of the final 14 points of the opening half, heading into the break trailing the Lady Knights, 38-22.

Cheyney and Gannon opened the second half exchanging layups for a 40-24 score. Following a layup by Whitley Duncan, the Lady Knights stormed down the court only 10 seconds later, as Batts landed her first of five second-half three-pointers to give the Lady Knights a 43-26 lead with 18:10 remaining. Another Cheyney layup was followed up by another Batts' trey leading to an 8-3 run by the Lady Knights, which was capped by a jumper from the junior to give Gannon a 54-31 lead with 14:40 left.

Holding a 63-48 lead with 7:17 remaining, junior Candice Hendricks (Randallstown, Md./McDonogh) kicked off a 13-1 run for the Lady Knights with her first three-point field goal of the season. The run was finished on a three by Batts, handing the Lady Knights' their largest lead of the game at 27 points with 4:41 left, 76-49.

Batts hit her final bucket of the night at 3:38 to give the Lady Knights a 79-54 lead. The basket was her eighth three-pointer, as the junior tied a career game-high set earlier this season against Glenville State on Nov. 16.

Despite Cheyney closing the game by scoring six of the final eight points, freshman Mikayla Deguire (Watervliet, N.Y./Watervliet) put away the final bucket on a deep jumper with 26 seconds left en route to the Lady Knights' 81-60 victory over the Wolves.

For the rest of the regular season, Gannon will face PSAC West Division opponents. The Lady Knights open the stretch of 12 divisional games at Clarion on Saturday, Jan. 11, with the tip set for 5:30 p.m.
