ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's water polo team will host four matches this weekend at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion, including three that feature the Lady Knights. The squad will only have one more home match following this weekend's action.

Please note the revised weekend schedule due to Salem International withdrawing from competition. Gannon kicks off the weekend Friday, March 22 against rival Mercyhurst. Game time has been moved up one hour to 7 p.m.

Saturday's competition features three matches in the CAP water. Indiana University and Notre Dame (Ohio) will start the day at 11 a.m. Gannon then battles Indiana University at 2 p.m. and Notre Dame (Ohio) at 6 p.m. Sunday's schedule has been cancelled. Saturday's three contests will count in the conference standings.

Gannon brings a 6-9 overall record and 0-2 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) mark into the weekend. The Lady Knights have been ranked 10th in the last two CWPA Division I/II polls. The squad is coming off a 9-6 victory last Sunday against Grove City, the top-ranked CWPA Division III team.

Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) leads the team in goals (32) and assists (25). The junior was named to the CWPA Western Division Player of the Week honor roll earlier this week. Janelle McDaniels (Edwardsville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) is Gannon's steals leader with 27 and Kelsey Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) tops all Lady Knights with 32 earned kick-outs.

Mercyhurst owns a 10-8 record this season, including three victories at the Wolverine Invitational last weekend. The Lakers are ranked ninth in the latest CWPA poll after beating Grove City, Gannon and Notre Dame (Ohio) last weekend.

Lisett Calderon is the Lakers' top scorer with 38 goals and 16 assists. She also has 53 drawn ejections and 28 steals. Cailin Jope has recorded 31 goals and 16 helpers, along with a team-high 30 steals. Freshmen Stephanie Fernandez, Annie Blackman and Meagan Marques have combined to record 38 goals and 35 assists.

Indiana University is the most decorated program headed to Erie this weekend. The Hoosiers are ranked 12th in the latest NCAA Division I national rankings and second in the CWPA poll. The NCAA Division I program has accumulated a 14-11 overall record and a 1-1 conference mark. It had won eight consecutive matches before dropping its last three at the tough Aztec Invitational in San Diego, California March 16-17. The setbacks came against San Diego State, UC San Diego and Cal State Northridge.

Redshirt senior Jakie Kohli headlines the Indiana offensive attack with 25 goals. Sophomore Rebecca Gerrity and junior Shae Fournier follow with 18 and 17 goals, respectively. Freshman Jessica Gaudreault has logged the majority of minutes in goal, recording 79 saves in 13 matches.

Notre Dame (Ohio) renews one of the CWPA's best rivalries with Gannon. The Falcons are listed among others receiving votes in the latest CWPA Division I/II poll, but have moved back and forth with Gannon in the rankings all season. ND's 5-6 overall record this season includes an 11-9 victory against the Lady Knights at the Salem Invitational on February 9.
