ERIE, Pa. - The No.2 Gannon Lady Knights will return home to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play against the California (Pa.) Vulcans on Wednesday evening at the Hammermill Center with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.  The Lady Knights enter the game 2-0 on the season, while the Vulcans are in search of their first win of the season with a 0-3 overall mark.
TICKETS
Ticket windows will open at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday's contest will be part of a PSAC doubleheader that begins with the women's teams at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the doubleheader cost $5 for adults and $3 for non-Gannon students and senior citizens. All Gannon students are admitted free of charge by showing their school ID at the front door.
LAST TIME OUT
-Â In recent action, No. 2 Gannon snapped Glenville State's 27-game home win streak Nov. 16 with a 90-84 victory. Junior Brittany Batts drilled a career-high eight three-pointers, while redshirt junior Doriyon Glass and freshman Brianna Brennan recorded their first career double-doubles.
-Â Two Lady Knights recorded double-doubles for the second time in the season's first two games.
- Gannon posted the big road victory with a late rally and a defensive effort that held Glenville State 30 points under its scoring average. Trailing 83-80, the Lady Knights scored 10 of the game's last 11 points during the final 2:35 of regulation.
FAST BREAK POINTS
- Gannon entered the season ranked second in the USA Today Sports Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll released on Oct. 29. In the latest rankings released on Nov. 19, the Lady Knights held their spot. The No. 2 position is the Lady Knights' highest national ranking since the team was ranked second in the final 2009-10 USA Today Sports Top 25 Coaches' Poll and this season's preseason poll.
- The squad returns 12 student-athletes and all five starters from last year's 31-5 squad that produced the second-most victories in school history.
SCOUTING THE VULCANS
- The California (Pa.) Vulcans are winless this season after three games. In the three games, the Vulcans are being outscored by an average of 12 points.
-Â The Vulcans dropped their home opener at the Convocation Center to Millersville, 91-76, on Nov. 9. Four Vulcans reached double digits in the loss.
-Â Last season, the Vulcans went 1-3 against Gannon including a pair of postseason losses.
-Â Among the PSAC team leaders, the Vulcans rank third in free-throw percentage (77.0%) and fourth in steals per game (11.33).
SERIES HISTORY
The Lady Knights hold a 15-14 lead in the all-time series.
-Â Last season, the teams split the regular-season series before the Lady Knights swept the Vulcans in both postseason meetings. In the PSAC quarterfinals on March 5, the host Lady Knights dominated the Vulcans, 77-50. On March 18 in the NCAA Atlantic Regional championship held at the Hammermill Center, the Lady Knights held on for a 50-47 win over the Vulcans.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Gannon will remain on the road from the Hammermill Center for the rest of Novemeber. Next up, the Lady Knights will travel to Seton Hill to face the Griffins on Saturday, Nov. 23 with a 1 p.m. tipoff.
-Â The Lady Knights hold a 2-0 record in the all-time series. Seton Hill is in its first season as a member of the PSAC. Last season, the Lady Knights defeated the Griffins on the road on Nov. 16, 80-55. The first meeting between the two squads came on March 13, 2009, in the NCAA Atlantic Regional with the Lady Knights defeating the Griffins, 80-60.
