Gannon and Slippery Rock fought to a scoreless first half despite The Rock holding a 9-5 shot advantage. The two teams continued in the possession battle for nearly 15 minutes into the second half until Gannon struck first. On a rush, Genetin sent a feed pass up to Brueckner with a pair of Rock defenders trailing her. Facing SRU goalkeeper Dana O'Neill, Brueckner managed to pull the keeper out of position before burying the shot inside the right post to give the Lady Knights a 1-0 lead.
Slippery Rock answered back in the 74th minute to tie the contest at 1-1.
Among Gannon's four corner kicks, Rodrigues converted on one of the attempts. The junior fired the ball from the corner with Colaizzo locating the ball in the crowd. From 25 yards out, Colaizzo ripped the shot past O'Neill for a Lady Knights' 2-1 lead and eventual win.
In the final shot totals, Slippery Rock registered a 15-9 shot advantage. Each team finished tied with three shots on goal.
Holding an 11-4 edge in corner kicks, The Rock recorded eight corner kick opportunities in the opening half alone to the Lady Knights' lone corner attempt. Geffel's strong play in net, negated any opportunities off a corner kick. In the first 15 minutes of the contest, Geffel punched out five Rock chances including three off corner kicks.Â
Looking to keep its win streak alive, Gannon will travel to California (Pa.) to face the Vulcans with a 6 p.m. kickoff.Â
