ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's lacrosse team returns home Friday, April 6 against Bloomsburg at Gannon University Field. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Gannon, listed among others receiving votes in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national rankings, brings a 6-4 overall record and a 4-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) mark into Friday's contest. The Lady Knights have won five of their last six matches after a 20-13 victory at East Stroudsburg Tuesday afternoon. The squad is one match behind Indiana (Pa.) for the top spot in the PSAC.
Jess Fugate (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) leads Gannon in assists (29) and points (54) while being the team's third-leading goal scorer with 25. The junior midfielder ranks fifth among all NCAA Division II players in assists and 14th in points.
Sarah Grzybinski (New Market, Md./Linganore) tops the team in goals (30) and draw controls (42).
Margaret Maslyn (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) has started played every minute in goal, producing an 11.00 goals against average and a .433 save percentage. The sophomore ranks 16th among all NCAA Division II goalkeepers in goals against average.
Bloomsburg rides a three-match losing streak into the weekend after consecutive losses to Indiana (Pa.) (18-17 in 2 ot), Lock Haven (15-10) and Mercyhurst (18-14). The Huskies, who are also listed among others receiving votes in the latest IWLCA national rankings, own a 4-5 overall record and a 2-3 mark within conference play. The squad's best match arguably came March 25 during a 14-13 double-overtime against ninth-ranked West Chester.
Three Huskies have reached the 20-goal plateau. Freshman Julie Falk headlines the attack with 25 goals, 14 assists and 39 points. Senior Samantha King is next with 25 goals, 10 assists and 35 points.
Junior Sam Mazzie is the squad's top goal scorer with 26, but ranks third in points with 33. Fellow junior Sara Bates has played the majority of minutes between the pipes, owning a 13.71 goals against average and a .456 save percentage.
Bloomsburg will be making its first trip to Gannon since a 20-7 loss during the 2006 season. Gannon has won four consecutive matches against the Huskies and lead the all-time series 8-2. The Lady Knights posted a 10-8 victory last season at Bloomsburg. It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2007.
