Swope Moves up to Fourth in National Rankings; Gannon Receiving Votes as a Team

Gannon's Swope is tabbed fourth nationally at 149 pounds.
ERIE, Pa. – Ethan Swope (Luthersburg, Pa. / DuBois Area) moved up one spot to fourth in the latest NCAA Division II national rankings. As a team the Golden Knights are among others receiving votes.

Swope, who is also ranked first regionally, moved up to fourth in the national rankings at 149 pounds. The redshirt senior holds a 12-4 overall record with a 10-1 record in dual meets. Three of his four losses this season have come against Division I foes. Swope took sixth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The 2011 NCAA national qualifier at 149 has a team-best four major decisions this season.

St. Cloud State was again the unanimous top pick with 160 points. They have been the top-ranked team in four of the five polls this season. Newberry, who is tops in Super Region One, was tabbed second. Upper Iowa was third followed by Nebraska-Kearney and Augustana (S.D.) to round out the top five.

Central Oklahoma was sixth followed by Grand Canyon (Ariz.), Pitt-Johnstown, Adams State (Colo.) and Ashland to finish the nation's top 10 teams.

Six of the 13 teams in Super Region One appear in the poll with Newberry, Pitt-Johnstown, Mercyhurst and West Liberty all ranking in the top 20. Other Super Region One teams to receive votes include Gannon and Kutztown.
