Gannon Women's Basketball Team Hosts Final PSAC East-West Crossover Weekend Against Bloomsburg and Mansfield

Erie, Pa. - The Gannon women's basketball team returns from a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico to host the final pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover games against Bloomsburg and Mansfield.

The Lady Knights enter the contest with a 9-1 overall record and a 6-0 mark in PSAC action. Gannon suffered their first loss during the trip to Puerto Rico, falling 57-54 to University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. Gannon bounced back during the second game of the trip, earning a 74-73 win over University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon.

During the win, Gannon was lead by a pair of 20-point performances from Jen Papich (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) and Caitlyn Lowe (Gettsyburg, Pa. / Gettysburg). For Papich, it marked her third 20-point performance this season. Lowe was 9-of-17 from long range during the two-game trip, averaging 17.0 points. 

Bloomsburg enters the game tied for first-place in the PSAC Eastern Division. Their 4-2 record in the PSAC matches Millersville and West Chester, who Gannon previously defeated this season. The Huskies two losses came to a pair of undefeated foes in Edinboro (98-73) and IUP (84-79).

A former PSAC East Freshman of the Year, Dana Wieller leads the Bloomsburg offense with 18.4 points per contest. Reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Year, Kelsey Gallagher averages 15.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. 

Mansfield enters the weekend with a 4-6 overall record while holding a 1-5 mark in conference play. Gannon has out-scored the Mountaineers 357-190 and holds a 4-0 record the series. Head coach Ruth Hermansen's squad knocked off Slippery Rock 88-66 to account for their only PSAC win this season.

Mallory Moore is averaging 19.2 points per contest and 5.5 rebounds this season for Mansfield. She boasts one of only nine triple-doubles in Division II this season after recording 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals against Central Penn College. She accomplished the feat during just 19 minutes of action.
