CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The California (Pa.) women's soccer team netted a pair of goals in each half and earned a 4-0 victory against Gannon Wednesday afternoon in a battle of ranked teams. The Vulcans are tabbed third in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national rankings and first in the NSCAA Atlantic regional rankings. The Lady Knights are listed eighth in the latest regional poll.
Two high-scoring Vulcans gave the home team a 3-0 lead, before a first goal capped the scoring. Senior forward Breeanna Robinson dented the scoreboard first with her sixth goal of the season 5:19 into the contest. Erin Hogan assisted on the goal.
Carley Work then went to work. The junior forward increased the Cal lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute and her ninth score of the year in the 69th minute. Sophomore forward Kelsey Russo ended the scoring with her first goal of season off an assist from Chelsea Crockett in the 78th minute.

Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) recorded Gannon's first shot 10:53 after the opening kickoff. The Vulcans out-shot the Lady Knights 31-18, posting a 14-6 edge in the first half and a 17-12 advantage in the second half. The home squad also seven corner kicks compared to Gannon's two.
Senior
Maggie Brinkman (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) reached double digits in saves for the second consecutive match, turning away 10 shots. The performance was one save shy of her career-high. Senior Paula Jackson had seven saves for the Vulcans.
Gannon dropped to 4-3-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with its second consecutive loss. The Lady Knights are 0-2-2 in their last four matches and 1-3-2 in their last six contests after starting the season with three consecutive victories. California (Pa.) remained undefeated at 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play.

Colin Petersen's squad returns home Saturday, October 1 against Shippensburg at Gannon University Field. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
