ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's soccer team concludes a season-opening five-match homestand Wednesday, September 14 against 17th-ranked Edinboro at Gannon University Field. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Gannon enters the rivalry match with a 3-1 overall record and 1-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) mark. The Lady Knights opened the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since 2008, before dropping a 4-1 decision to Kutztown last Saturday.

Colin Petersen's squad remained 10th for the second consecutive week in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic regional rankings.
Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) has been on a torrid pace during the early portion of the schedule. The senior forward ranks second among all NCAA Division II players in game-winning goals (2), third in goals (7) and third in points (15). She leads all PSAC players in those three categories.
Justine Rodrigues (Georgetown, Ontario/Georgetown District) and
Michelle Genetin (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) have scored Gannon's other two goals.
Maggie Brinkman (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) has played every minute in goal, producing a 1.50 goals against average and .727 save percentage.
Edinboro brings a sparkling 4-0 overall record and 2-0 conference mark into Wednesday's fray. The Fighting Scots are ranked 17th in the latest NSCAA national rankings and third in the latest NSCAA Atlantic regional rankings.
Head coach Gary Kagiavas' club is off to its best start in school history. Edinboro began the season with victories against Ashland (2-1 in ot) and Wheeling Jesuit (4-1) at the Gannon University Classic. The Fighting Scots have since defeated Bloomsburg (3-1) and East Stroudsburg (3-0) on the road.
Samantha Kaider leads the team in scoring with five goals, two assists and 12 points. The senior forward ranks second nationally in game-winning goals, 11th in goals and 14th in points. Freshman forward Elizabeth Debo has contributed three goals. The duo has combined to total eight of Edinboro's 12 goals this season.
Three goalkeepers have split time between the pipes for the Fighting Scots. Meghan Kelly has played the most, logging 248 minutes. The freshman has a 0.36 goals against average and .857 save percentage. However, she has only needed to make six saves during her three starting assignments.
Gannon leads the all-time series 8-6, including a slight 1-0-2 edge during the last two seasons. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie last year at Edinboro's Sox Harrison Stadium after the Fighting Scots erased a two-goal deficit in the final six minutes of regulation.
