The Gannon women's basketball team looks to rebound after a rare home loss with games at Cheyney and Shippensburg to conclude Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover play. Both games are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
Gannon fell to West Chester by a 71-66 score one night after knocking off No. 17 Millersville 55-51. The loss to West Chester marks the first regular-season home loss for the Lady Knights in over three years. The last setback came with a 61-60 loss against West Virginia Wesleyan on December 1, 2008.
Cheyney (4-6) enters the game after dropping three straight games, including both PSAC crossover games against Edinboro and Lock Haven. Cheyney is currently second in the conference in steals per game (14.4) with for players appearing among the top-14 in the PSAC.
Shippensburg also lost both PSAC crossover games, losing four straight overall. Kasey Gardner is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 19.0 points. The senior is also seventh in rebounding, pulling down 8.5 boards per game.
Gannon will face off against Cheyney for the first time in school history, but will be making its third trip to Shippensburg. The Lady Knights are 0-2 in their previous trips to Shippensburg, Pa., but do hold an overall 3-2 edge over the Red Raiders.
