Gannon Swimming and Diving Teams Host Division I Canisius Saturday Afternoon at the CAP

The Gannon swimming and diving teams' only home meet of the season takes place Saturday afternoon against Canisius.
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon swimming and diving fans will get their only chance to see the Golden Knights at home Saturday, January 15 when NCAA Division I Canisius comes to the Carneval Athletic Pavilion. Gannon's only home meet of the season is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Gannon women's swimming and diving team comes into Saturday's action with a 5-2 record in dual meets. The Lady Knights have been idle for 36 days since a 128-116 victory at Fredonia State. The dual victories include decisions against Division I Butler (226-60) and Niagara (199-101).

Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) leads the women's team in first-place finishes (5) while being tied for the team-high in top-three finishes (8). Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) and Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) have also recorded eight top-three finishes this season.

The Gannon men's swimming and diving team brings a 3-2 dual record into Saturday's event. The Golden Knights have also been off for 36 days since a 150-91 victory at Fredonia State. Among the squad's victims was NCAA Division I Niagara (160-139).

Luke Curtis (Adelaide, South Australia/Blackfriars Priory) owns the team's most first-place finishes (7) and top-three finishes (14). Terrance Coughran (Atwater, Calif./Atwater) has touched the wall first on four different occassions this season. Jared Griffard (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Coeur d'Alene) is second on the team in top-three finishes (10).

The Canisius women's swimming and diving team (1-6) is coming off back-to-back losses to Notre Dame (119-113) and Saint Bonaventure (163-77). Its lone victory was a 148-66 decision against John Carroll.

The Canisius men's swimming and diving team (3-4) had won two consecutive meets against Notre Dame (146-91) and John Carroll (166-76), before falling to Saint Bonaventure (171-72) during its last action on December 17. The Golden Griffins also own a victory against Iona (130-107) on November 13.

Both Gannon programs have already qualified 27 swimmers for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships this season. In the process, that group has recorded 118 PSAC-qualifying times.
