ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's soccer team returns home Wednesday, September 15 for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) showdown with California (Pa.) at Gannon University Field. The match-up kicks off a women's-men's doubleheader at 4 p.m.

Gannon enters the battle with a 2-1-1 overall record and 1-1 PSAC mark. The Lady Knights are ranked fifth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic regional rankings. The squad was undefeated through its first three matches, before suffering a 4-2 loss at No. 15 Kutztown last Saturday.
Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) has been red hot during the first month of the season. The junior has scored seven of the team's nine goals and has moved within two goals of the school's all-time scoring mark (34). She ranks fourth among all NCAA Division II players in goals per match (3.5).
Tenyka Francique (Brampton, Ontario/International) and
Katie Urban (Columbia Station, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) have tallied the other two scores.
Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) has played every minute in goal, posting a 1.18 goals against average and .762 save percentage.
California (Pa.) brings a 3-0-1 overall record and 0-0-1 conference slate into Wednesday's affair. The Vulcans dropped from No. 7 to No. 20 in the NSCAA national rankings after battling Indiana (Pa.) to a scoreless tie last week. The squad is tabbed third in the latest NSCAA regional rankings.
Freshman Tonya Fabian headlines the Cal offensive attack with four goals, two assists and 10 points through four matches. Senior Sam Regney is close behind with three goals, three assists and nine points. Junior Paula Jackson has played the majority of minutes in goal and has not allowed a score in 331 minutes.
California (Pa.) has out-shot its opponents 137-15 during its first four matches, allowing only seven shots on goal.
Gannon leads the all-time series 10-8. The two clubs split a regular-season series last year with each team winning at home. The Vulcans then defeated the Lady Knights 2-0 in the PSAC Quarterfinals.
