The Gannon women's lacrosse team is making its first conference tournament appearance during its second year as a PSAC member.
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women's lacrosse team will get its first taste of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) post-season action Tuesday, April 27 when it makes the short trek to rival Mercyhurst for a PSAC quarterfinal match. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Tuesday's winner advances to the PSAC Final Four hosted by West Chester. The conference semifinals are scheduled for Friday, April 30 at 1 and 4 p.m. The PSAC title match is slated for Saturday, May 1 at 1 p.m.

Gannon and Mercyhurst have already played two barn burners this season. The Lakers have been on the winning end both times, earning a 10-9 decision March 20 at Gannon University Field and an 11-10 verdict April 12 at Tullio Field.

Gannon rides a season-high four-match win streak into Tuesday's PSAC Quarterfinal. The Lady Knights are ranked eighth in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top 10 with an 11-6 overall record. The squad finished third in the PSAC West with a 6-4 conference mark.

Eight Lady Knights have reached double digits in points. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) leads the team in goals (65) and points (82). Kayla Nelson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) tops the team in assists (63) while adding 15 goals for 78 points. The senior became Gannon's all-time assist leader (186) last Saturday.

Mary Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) completes Gannon's group of 70-point scorers. She has 59 goals, 12 assists and 71 points. Acacia Cook (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) is expected to start in goal with a 9.79 goals against average and .502 save percentage. The senior is Gannon's all-time saves leader with 603.

Mercyhurst is tabbed fifth in the latest IWLCA national rankings. The Lakers earned a share of the PSAC West regular-season title with an 11-10 victory against Lock Haven Saturday afternoon, but enters the tournament as the division's second seed due to a goal differential tiebreaker. The squad finished the regular season 16-1 overall and 9-1 in the PSAC West. Head coach Cecil Pilson's team has won seven consecutive matches.

Ten different Lakers have reached double digits in points. The balanced attack is led by Ally Keirn. In addition to 44 goals, the sophomore attacker leads the team in assists (56) and points (100). Junior midfielder Kimberly Masterson is the team's leading scorer with 50 goals. She also has 31 assists and 81 points. Senior goalkeeper Maeve McGoff should start between the pipes with an 8.24 goals against average and .534 save percentage.
