BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Gannon women's water polo team lost to eighth-ranked University of Michigan 11-7 Sunday at the Fluid 5 Tournament hosted by Indiana University.
The Lady Knights led 2-1 after one period and were tied at five going into the final quarter. The Wolverines held a 4-3 edge at halftime. Six fourth-period goals made the difference for Michigan, however.
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) and
Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each scored twice.
Kendra Plackemeier (Bonsall, Calif./Fallbrook),
Stephanie Komorek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), and Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored a goal apiece for GU.
Janelle Bartman (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) recorded 11 saves in net.
Gannon (8-18) now takes almost three weeks off before its next match. The Knights play Washington & Jefferson and Grove City College April 17. Both contests will be held at GCC.
