EDINBORO, Pa. - The Lady Knight soccer team tied Edinboro 0-0 Tuesday evening at Sox Harrison Stadium. Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made five saves in the shutout for Gannon.
GU outshot the Boro 17-11 in the contest and recorded five corner kicks to the Scots' none. The matchup of top ten teams in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic Region rankings did not see a winner, though.
Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) totaled eight shots, including five on goal for the Knights. Edinboro's Kate Stukbauer could not be beaten, however, making ten saves in the tie.
Gannon, seventh in the Atlantic Region, is 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division. The Fighting Scots are tabbed ninth in the Atlantic region. They are 3-3-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the league. The teams split their two meetings in 2008 and will face each other in Erie October 28.
GU is off until September 29, when it hosts Wheeling Jesuit. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
