ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team lost at Mercyhurst 1-0 Wednesday. The Lakers scored the game-winning goal with 26 seconds remaining in the match. 

The teams played scoreless soccer for much of the contest, but the Knights struggled to control the ball throughout. The Lakers outshot GU 18-10. 

Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made seven saves in the loss. Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) attempted five shots for Gannon. 

Karla Vogt scored on an assist from Danielle Braun in the 90th minute to give the Lakers their first win of the season. 

The Lady Knights fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Mercyhurst is 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. GU hosts Indiana (Pa.) Saturday, September 5. The league match kicks off at noon from Gannon University Field.
