ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon University women's soccer team beat Clarion 4-1 at Gannon University Field Wednesday.
Amanda Sharbaugh (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) scored two goals and
Breanne Radin (Lockwood, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) recorded three assists for the Lady Knights.
GU (3-3, 2-3 PSAC) went up quickly, as Sharbaugh scored off assists from Radin and
Jenny Jergel (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) at the 2:31 mark. Clarion (3-5, 0-5 PSAC) tied the match on a penalty kick early in the second half.
From there, it was all Gannon.
Tenyka Francique (Brampton, Ontario/International) gave the Knights a 2-1 edge in the 75th minute, as Radin added the helper. Sharbaugh added insurance with her fifth goal of the season at the 80:01 mark. Radin again recorded the assist.
Ashley Oluschak (Butler, Pa./Butler) put in her first career goal off a penalty kick in the 87th minute to create the final margin.
Sabrina Chirco (Brampton, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made three saves for the victory in net.
Gannon shot 36 times, the most for a Lady Knight team since September 3, 2005, when GU recorded 38 shots in a 4-3 win over the University of Charleston.
Gannon hosts Slippery Rock in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West match September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
