LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven snapped a 1-1 tie with the final two goals and posted a 3-1 victory over Gannon Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest.
The two teams traded goals in the first 21 minutes. Lock Haven's Terrence Gochera struck first at the 19:20 mark, scoring from eight yards out off an assist from Greg Shertzer.
Sean Washek (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) tied the contest 53 seconds later. The true freshman netted his second goal of the season off
Dan Howell's (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) third assist of the campaign.
The back-and-forth battle continued when Colin Callaghan gave Lock Haven a 2-1 lead 10 minutes and 29 seconds later. He scored unassisted off a rebound in front of the goal.
Lock Haven went to halftime with a 2-1 lead and iced the victory on Shertzer's unassisted score in the 47th minute. It was the only goal of the second half.
Gannon out-shot Lock Haven 17-12 and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
Steven Boehmer (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) recorded seven saves in goal. The contest featured 21 fouls, three yellow cards, and three red cards.
Gannon dropped to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC West with Saturday's loss. Lock Haven improved to 2-2-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Golden Knights return to action Wednesday, September 16 at Davis & Elkins. The non-conference match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
